WALLY LOWMAN

Wally Lowman, our Lead Minister, is originally from Canton, Ohio.  He and his wife, Stephanie, have been with us at South since 2001.  Wally has a passion for helping our church worship God with everything they are. He oversees our SEEK ministry.  His life goal is to help people to live out every moment and every breath of their lives as worship to God. 

Wally earned a Bachelors of Religious Education degree from Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, Michigan, and a Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City, Tennessee. 

Wally and Stephanie have one daughter, Hannah Grace. Wally enjoys the outdoors, golf, computers, music, and spending time with family and friends. He is also passionate about great coffee!

WALTER NEUENSCHWANDER

Walter Neuenschwander serves as our Teaching & Small Groups Minister. He has been on our staff since 2015. Walter and his wife, Jamie, are originally from Michigan and attended Great Lakes Christian College and Michigan State University. Prior to coming to SLCC the Neuenschwanders served at Lane Christian Church near Clinton, Illinois. During that time they each completed degrees at Lincoln Christian Seminary with Walter earning a Master of Divinity degree and Jamie earning a Master of Arts in Counseling.

Walter and Jamie have three kids. Their family enjoys outdoor activities, and can often be found somewhere fishing, camping, cutting wood, or taking care of their pets – ducks, chickens, and a dog named Luna.

Walter’s ministry focuses on communicating truth from God’s word in an approachable way, as well as on connecting people in small groups. He believes that we all were created to live in community with our Creator and with each other.

ERIC Sheldon

Born and raised in Lansing, Eric Sheldon serves as our Youth Minister at South. He attended Holt Public Schools and graduated from Great Lakes Christian College in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and Youth Ministry.

Eric first connected with South through our High School Ministry, Modified, where he began serving as a volunteer in 2013. He later became part of our college-age ministry, Thrive, where he met his wife, Chelsea. Together, they helped launch Thrive before getting married in the summer of 2019.

Eric and Chelsea welcomed their son, Theo, in 2026, adding to their family alongside their two dogs, Ronin and Rae. They love opening their home to friends and family for game nights and small groups, as well as spending time camping and enjoying the outdoors.

Eric enjoys the nerdier things in life, including board games, video games, and Dungeons & Dragons. He also loves creative pursuits like writing, graphic design, and cooking.

Habacuc Diaz

Habacuc serves as our Creative Arts and SERVE Minister, bringing creativity, worship, and opportunities to serve together into the life of our church.

Habacuc and his wife, Liz, have three young adult children, Yael, Matias, and Tomas. Outside of ministry, Habacuc enjoys spending time with his family and finding creative ways to use his gifts to bless others.

Greta McCartney Briere

Greta McCartney Briere serves as our Children’s Minister and has been on our staff since 2022. Greta and her husband, Kevin, have attended SLCC since 2009. Greta earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from Michigan State University. She believes children are not just the next generation, but an important part of the church right now. She enjoys providing opportunities for families to share their faith with their children in ways that empower them and help them embrace the rest and freedom of Christ.

Greta and Kevin have two children. Greta enjoys reading, walks in nature, and crafting. She is originally from Ishpeming, Michigan and enjoys taking trips back to the UP with Kevin and their kids to visit family, Lake Superior, and the stars.

JENNIFER BATDORFF

Jennifer has been serving as our Office Administrator since April 2013. She is married to Dan, who grew up at South and now serves as one of our Elders and a member of the Finance team. Dan and Jennifer were married at South in 2003 in the cozy Fireside Room, and they live in Mason. They have two young adult sons, Christian and Jonathan. Jonathan is engaged to Jorja, and they are looking forward to welcoming her into the family.

Jennifer’s heart for hospitality shows up in many ways, especially through her love of cooking and her involvement with the Funeral Dinner ministry, which she has been a part of since 2010. On Sunday mornings, you’ll often find her in her office hosting and engaging with our online community. She also enjoys investing in the next generation as a small group leader and teacher with our High School Ministry, Modified, and as a mentor to two amazing young adults.

When she and her family aren’t serving at South, they love spending time outdoors and seeking out off-the-grid adventures. With plenty of stories from past trips and dreams of future ones, Jennifer is always ready for the next adventure!
