A disciple is defined as a person who believes in the ideas of a leader, especially a religious or political one, and tries to live according to those ideas. We see this happen in the gospels. During his ministry, Jesus challenged people to follow him and become his disciples. They spent significant time with him, watching what he did, seeing how he treated people, learning from him. When his ministry on earth and he ascended to the right hand of the father, his disciples took over his ministry.

At the end of Matthew 28, he calls his disciples and all who follow him to continue to make disciples. As Matthew 28:19ff reads:

19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus set the expectation that we would be growing others in their faith. To grow something, you have to be intentional. You have to prepare the soil to be the best. You plant the seed. You water it. You make sure it has the correct temperature and the right amount of sunlight. As the plant grows you replant it. One may even prune it to make it healthier.

We want to grow in our faith this year as a church. We are challenging each individual and family to take the NEXT STEPS to seek, study, and serve God in 2024. We want you to join us in this journey! Click the link below and join us!
