Seven Weeks in the Sermon on the Mount
Just like any good workshop has a set of tools that help get things done, every follower of Jesus has a set of practices they engage in to help grow their faith. In Matthew 5-7, Jesus teaches his his disciples just what it means to follow him. In doing so he mentions things like prayer, fasting, and giving. As we study together over the next few weeks, we’re challenging you to put these things into practice, as well as to read the Sermon on the Mount once each week!

Memorization Challenge
The purpose of these spiritual practices in your life is to grow closer to Jesus. They also have the additional benefit of making you stand out. When others see how you live, it should be evident that you follow Jesus. As a reminder of that, we’re challenging you to memorize Matthew 5:13-16 over these seven weeks:
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
