Where and When

A New Year

The finance team has been hard at work setting up a new budget for 2012.  While we still have a few finishing touches to do on the budget, we wanted to highlight a few things:

Included in the 2012 budget are all the requests and needs that our ministries have. In years past, our ministries would submit their budgets, and we would have to make hard decisions to what we were going to fund and what we would need to wait on. While there were a lot of questions, we are fully funding each ministry's 2012 budget requests.  That means, for example, the youth ministry and children’s ministry will have the funds they need to facilitate their ministry in the way they have planned.

A second difference is the ability to address our special projects.  In the past few years we have had to put off doing some things like painting the foyer, purchasing new computers, and so on.  This year, we should be able to complete some of those projects.  The estimated costs are noted in the Special Projects line of the 2012 Proposed Budget.  We will do these projects as monies are available.

Even more, we have never truly been able to build up an emergency fund for our church.  This year, we have built a savings plan/sinking fund into our budget.  This will allow us to be ready for unexpected expenses and give us a safety net so that in six months we don't have to again announce budget cuts.
