Josh hails from Grand Rapids Michigan where he was born, raised and taught to fish. A graduate of East Kentwood High School, he pursued degrees in Graphic Design and Elementary Education. Neither of which he received.
In the summers of '05 and '06, he found a love for Montana and received a call into Children's Ministry. This all happened while living on the Blackfeet Indian reservation in Heart Butte, Montana and working for Youthworks.
These experiences led him to attending Great Lakes Christian College where he graduated from in 2010. After completing an internship at SLCC, he served as Children's Minister at DeWitt Christian Church from January of 2008 to August 2013.
Josh and his sweetheart, Alli, have been married for over 8 marvelous years. Their son Gabe plans to be a farmer, although he is also a worker man, fireman, race car driver and mechanic. Not bad for a preschooler! They also have an adorably cute baby girl named Zoe, who is a proficient chewer, masher and devourer of fine foods. In addition to being a husband and father, Josh spends his free time performing search and rescue missions for Gabe's lost Lego people.
Walter Neuenschwander is the newest member of the South Lansing Christian Church staff and serves as our Young Adult Minister. Walter and his wife, Jamie, are originally from Michigan and attended Great Lakes Christian College and Michigan State University. Prior to coming to SLCC the Neuenschwanders served on staff at Lane Christian Church near Clinton, Illinois. During that time they each completed degrees at Lincoln Christian Seminary with Walter earning a Master of Divinity degree and Jamie earning a Masters of Arts of Counseling.
Walter and Jamie have two children. Their daughter, Adelaide, is three and their son, Simeon, is one year old. In addition to their passion for student ministry, Walter and Jamie are also gifted musicians.
Walter’s ministry focuses on helping high school students and young adults navigate the critical transition between high school and whatever comes next. He accomplishes that by providing leadership for Modified, SLCC’s high school ministry, and by fostering a network of college / career-age small groups.
