OUR STAFF

WALLY LOWMAN

Wally Lowman, our Lead Minister, is originally from Canton, Ohio.  He and his wife, Stephanie, have been with us at South since 2001.  Wally has a passion for helping our church worship God with everything they are. He oversees our SEEK ministry.  His life goal is to help people to live out every moment and every breath of their lives as worship to God.

Wally earned a Bachelors of Religious Education degree from Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, Michigan, and a Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Wally and Stephanie have one daughter, Hannah Grace. Wally enjoys the outdoors, golf, computers, music, and spending time with family and friends.  He is also passionate about great coffee!

WALTER NEUENSCHWANDER

Walter Neuenschwander has served as our Teaching & Small Groups Minister. He has been on our staff since 2015. Walter and his wife, Jamie, are originally from Michigan and attended Great Lakes Christian College and Michigan State University. Prior to coming to SLCC the Neuenschwanders served at Lane Christian Church near Clinton, Illinois. During that time they each completed degrees at Lincoln Christian Seminary with Walter earning a Master of Divinity degree and Jamie earning a Master of Arts in Counseling.

Walter and Jamie have three kids. Their family enjoys outdoor activities, and can often be found somewhere fishing, camping, hiking, or taking care of their pets – ducks, chickens, and a dog named Luna.

Walter’s ministry focuses communicating truth from God’s word in an approachable way, as well as on connecting people in small groups. He believes that we all were created to live in community with our Creator and with each other. Send him a message to get connected here at South!

ERIC Sheldon

Born and raised in Lansing, Eric Sheldon serves as our Youth Minister here at SLCC. He attended Holt Public Schools through his youth and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theology and Youth Ministry from Great Lakes Christian College in 2018. Eric got connected to SLCC through our High School Ministry, Modified, where he has been serving as a volunteer since 2013.

Eric met his wife, Chelsea, through being a part of our college age ministry, Thrive, which they helped launch. They got married in summer of 2019 and have two dogs, Ronin and Rae, whom they love. Eric enjoys the nerdier things in life like board games, video games, and Dungeons & Dragons. He also enjoys being creative through other activities such as writing, graphic design, and cooking. He and Chelsea love to host their friends and family at their house for game nights and small group meetings. They love to camp and be in nature as well.

JENNIFER BATDORFF

Jennifer has been serving as our Office Administrator since April 2013. Jennifer is married to Dan, who grew up at South, is one of our Deacons, and on the Finance team. Dan and Jennifer were married at South in 2003 (in the Fireside Room in front of the fireplace) and live in Mason with their two teenage sons, Christian and Jonathan.

She also has a passion for cooking and has been a part of our Funeral Dinner ministry since 2010. On a regular Sunday, you will find her in her office on a computer engaging with our online community as an Online Host. She also serves as a small group leader for our High School Ministry, Modified. Jennifer and her family thrive being outdoors off the grid. They have been on many adventures, she would love to tell you about, and have plans for many more!

EMMA HOKANSON

Emma joined the staff in the fall of 2021 as our South Lansing Christian Church Fellow*. She currently attends Great Lakes Christian College and plays on the GLCC volleyball team.

Hannah Lowman

Hannah was practically born and raised at this church. She’s a preacher’s kid (Wally is her dad), and she grew up going through the Children’s Ministry here at South. She’s volunteered for years but has officially been part of the Fellowship* program since 2022. As an intern, she spends most of her time being an extra pair of hands for Greta, our Children’s Minister.

Most of Hannah’s hobbies include art and music. She loves creating and sharing her work with others. She makes a mean friendship bracelet and would love to show you how to make one. Hannah plays guitar, piano, ukulele, cajon, marimba, and can sing a little.

*The SLCC Fellowship is a 4-year program. It offers free tuition in exchange for a student interning at our church. For more information email office@seekstudyserve.org
