#nofilter

The reason ‘sinners’ ran from the religious, yet ran to Jesus had everything to do with his attitude toward people. They could sense Jesus was for them – not against them. Unlike the Pharisees, who could only see the mud of sin, Jesus saw a masterpiece under the mud that was so valuable, he was willing to give his life to restore messy people to the original work of art he created them to be.”[i] What do we see when we look at people? Often we don’t really see them for who they are, because we look through the filters of status, position, power, judgment and comparison. These filters distort our view of people. When Jesus looked at “sinners” he saw through their flaws and failures and perceived God’s original intention. That doesn’t mean Jesus never viewed people through a filter. He always saw people through a filter. The filter of love.
